Summer Newsletter 2021

June 20, 2021 by BandM Leave a Comment

Dear Partners and Friends of Welcome Network,

We hope you are keeping well.

FAMILY NEWS

Our daughter, Abigail is now married to Scott – they are waiting until October for the church celebration, but had the registry ceremony in April. We are so pleased they went ahead! Also our eldest son, David and his wife, Holly have had a new baby girl called Wren who is very cute!

OUR VILLAGE (Shilbottle in Northumberland)

Our village community notice board is now installed alongside our property – we are grateful to all the individual donations which helped cover its cost. Thank you. It is already being a blessing to the whole village, available for any local community groups, and we have also been using it for gospel posters. We are next to the village shops so there is a good footfall.
The
Albafarne prayer garden is now open for individuals and groups again. If you are in the area, and would like to spend some time out with God, come along for an hour, or a whole day!  (to let us know you are coming, tel.07988564299).
We had our first
Prayer Day last month, on the theme, ‘Walking in the Spirit’ which was fully booked. The theme of walking was appropriate because we had hosted a prayer walk around the village a few weeks earlier. The walk brought together Christians from the area, and has been a great opportunity to pray God’s blessing over the village.

REGIONALLY IN NORTHUMBERLAND, TYNE & WEAR

Since January, we have hosted several regional gatherings on zoom, all intended to encourage and nurture revival – through prayer, worship, and the prophetic (Open Wells and Northumberland Prayer Net events), as well as a Creative mission event, which aims to encourage imaginative ways of reaching our communities with the gospel. Along with a local team, we are now planning a three-session GRASSROOTS PRAYER SCHOOL, starting on Sat 19th June, (the other two sessions will be in the autumn) See you tube recording.

Our monthly, hour-long ‘Pockets conversations’ on zoom have been providing mutual encouragement and support for a scatter of individuals, couples and small groups in our region, and further afield. We had a Pockets event online in Feb (still available to view on youtube).

Amazingly, we are pleased to tell you that we are starting the AWAKE GOSPEL COMMUNITY CHOIR with an introductory session in July, in Alnwick – our local market town. This has been a project we have wanted to do for at least two years but is now at last, becoming a reality with the arrival of someone prepared to take on the role of choir leader. We are like men who dreamed!
Our desire is to create a community where people from any background can come and have fun singing gospel music together. We will be sharing the gospel as we explain the meaning of the lyrics of the songs!

GLOBAL ZOOM EVENT – ‘SENTNESS’ – How Apostles help us to be Apostolic

Have you ever wondered what apostles are about? How do they help us, and what do they look like?
We are having a GLOBAL SPECIAL on Mon 5th July for an hour. Please join us, 6.45pm for a 7pm start (UK time) –  Meeting ID: 725 337 9548  Password: Albafarne
Our new book, ‘Sentness – How apostles help us to be apostolic’ is available from Amazon, in printed form and kindle from July 1st onwards. We will be praying for the global impact of this book during the event.

BRIGHT RIVER CHAPEL

We feel God has been encouraging us with these words, ‘whatever happens, keep on singing!’ Every Sunday (4pm for 4.15pm UK time) we bring worship and encouragement for 30 to 45 min online. If you’d like to join us and our small broadcasting team on zoom, you are very welcome! We have a short time of sharing and prayer afterwards (zoom details are the same as above). Otherwise, watch us live on face book (Bob), or on the Welcome network youtube channel during the week.

NORDIC COUNTRIES

We are grateful for the Nordic 365 prayer initiative, which has been stirring us up to pray for the Nordic countries, so although we haven’t been able to travel there physically for over a year, we have gone there in prayer! We want to thank God for all of you, our Welcome Network supporters and friends. Thank you for your prayers and financial giving. It has all helped and we appreciate your input into our lives.

With much love
from Bob and Mary Bain xxx
