Welcome Network Christmas News 2022

December 5, 2022 by BandM Leave a Comment

Dear Partners and Friends of Welcome Network

STEPPING OUT – Recently Bob and I were given an encouraging prophetic word – God said we had been taking small steps, and that was good, but now it was time to take a BIG STEP forward! (see Isaiah 54:2) It was as if we had pressed the PAUSE button; (Do you know that feeling?)  and now God was giving us the same stepping out words He had given to us a year ago, because we had hardly moved out on them! Sometimes God reveals the plan only when we take a step! (e.g.Joshua had to cross the Jordan before he received God’s plan for taking Jericho! Joshua 5:13-6:5)  As we enter 2023, let’s look over the promises and plans God has given us, and take a big step FORWARD in faith, knowing that He is Immanuel -“God with us”!

AUSTRALIA and PHILIPPINES – Autumn, this year, was a wonderful adventure with four weeks spent in Melbourne, Australia, with our son, Jonathan, daughter-in-law, Dolly, and two young grandsons, Edward and Henry. It was a real family- focussed time; full of the simple joys and everyday routines of life, celebrating birthdays, reading stories and play times, as well as discovering the unique flora and fauna of the area! A great break from our normal routines!

On our way back to the UK we stopped over in the Philippines for a few days. We met a good friend, Angelica, who is busy with outreach and mission in Manila. We also spent a lovely day with another friend, Christine, who we know from our time living in London.

Homespun from Devon by Sue Lewis textile ArtistFIRE IN THE NORTH In September we hosted this amazing revival gathering at Howick Hall with fifty leaders from all across Northumberland. It was a significant time of worship, prophetic prayer, speaking out declarations, networking and encouraging one another. We sense God’s leading to continue to bring together those who are eager for God’s fire- His love, passion and compassion, to transform our region of the North East of England! Watch this space!

CEDARWOOD – Bob and I had a very fulfilling time helping in the Prayer and Worship Tent at Cedarwood Festival this Summer. Over the three days, many people encountered Jesus, experienced healing and some gave their lives for the first time! We are helping with next year’s Summer Festival.

OUR VILLAGE – We love living in Shilbottle and helping to share God’s love as village chaplains. This year we held a Jubilee Garden Party in our prayer garden, Albafarne; we co-ordinated the outdoor Remembrance Day service at the war memorial and are posting a Christmas Gospel newspaper and prayer card through the doors of all the 800 houses. Mary is very happy to again be part of a team taking Open the Book into the local village school.

BRIGHT RIVER CHAPEL Our regular online gathering continues every Sunday from 4pm on zoom (also live on facebook from 4. 15pm). You are very welcome to join us as we worship the Lord, encourage and pray for one another. (ID: 7253379548 Password: Albafarne). From January, we will also meet on one Sunday each month, in person, at a local venue in Alnwick. Please pray for us as we take this step forward!  Our monthly “POCKETS” ZOOM continues to support and encourage a scattering of folk, from across the North East, who are eager to share the gospel with others in their community.

FAMILY NEWS – It was a great joy this year to welcome our seventh grandchild Jack, born in May to our daughter, Esther and husband Martin. He is now six months and doing well!  In July, we celebrated our youngest daughter, Vicky, and one of our sons in law, Scott, as they graduated as doctors!

Much Love and a very Happy Christmas

WELCOME NETWORK AUTUMN NEWSLETTER

September 8, 2022 by BandM Leave a Comment

Prophetic Art
by Doug Gowland

Dear Partners and Friends of Welcome Network

We hope that you are keeping well.

Fire in the North! We have just finished hosting the most wonderful revival gathering of around 50 various leaders from all across Northumberland- those in church planting, intercession, worship and the prophetic. We called the gathering, “Fire in the North” because we are eager for God’s fire- His love, passion and compassion to transform our communities here in the North East of England!

Howick Hall Rotunda

We chose the venue, an old stately home called Howick Hall, because, on a previous visit there, we had spotted on the entrance hall ceiling, the words from Psalm 127:1

Unless the Lord builds the House, those who labour, labour in vain.

We felt that this scripture was so appropriate – speaking to all of us who are aching for God to move in revival.

Summer Festivals During the summer we helped in the Worship and Prayer Tent at a Christian open air worship event called Cedarwood in our region. It was an exciting and fulfilling time, as we saw God move and bring hope and healing into many lives!

David’s Tent around the Fire

Then at the end of August, Bob and I drove down south to join in with David’s Tent, an event where there is continuous worship for over seventy two hours. We really felt renewed and refreshed as we spent time drawing near to God in worship. It was very encouraging to be surrounded by people of all ages enthusiastically giving their hearts to God! Our son, Matt and daughter in law, Sharmila were helping on the team, and Sharmila was one of those selling beautiful crafts, pictures and other products in the Resource Tent. Also in August, it was a joy to be speaking and sharing with others at the national gathering of a church network called Harvest Chapel International in Nottingham. The theme was Enlarge My Heart from Ps 119:32.

Bright River Chapel and Pockets We continue to have our regular Bright River Chapel time every Sunday at 4pm, but sometimes we have popped up in unusual places while camping, or on family visits. We have also enjoyed some special guest times- with Kirsty Allen from Lewis (now married – many congratulations!); with Talia Arose a singer/songwriter from Paris, and Chelsea and Joe Pay from County Durham. We have also hosted a monthly zoom called “Pockets” which encourages and supports a scattering of folk from across the North East in their desire to share the gospel with others in their local community.

Family News  We had a wonderful time in Norwich celebrating the graduation of our daughter, Vicky and one of our sons in law, Scott, both becoming doctors; even though the ceremonies had been delayed by one or two years!!

It has also been lovely to visit some of our grandchildren this Summer;  in London with Joe, Emily, Alex, 4yrs and Oliver 2 yrs; and in Paisley seeing baby Jack, now 4 months old, born to our daughter, Esther and son-in-law, Martin earlier this year. We are now in the final stages of getting ready for a trip to Melbourne, Australia where we will be visiting our son, Jonathan and daughter-in-law, Dolly and family, Edward and Henry.

Thank you for your prayers and financial giving. It has all helped and we appreciate your input into our lives.

With much love from Bob and Mary Bain xxx

WELCOME NETWORK SUMMER NEWSLETTER 2022

June 27, 2022 by BandM Leave a Comment

Fire in the North

Dear Partners and Friends of Welcome Network,

We hope that you are keeping well. Sometimes we wonder what God is doing, don’t we? It is so easy to get confused and disheartened, but for us, at the moment, the challenge is really just to trust in God and keep on going!

NETWORKING AND MISSION

Over the last five years we have built up solid relationships with many in Christian leadership, worship and prayer groups across Northumberland and Tyneside, and continue to do so. These are enabling good networking and mission to take place. This September we will be hosting a special meeting called “FIRE in the North” in which fifty or so leaders, in the region, will gather to share their passion to see God move in revival.

TEACHING, PRAYER AND THE PROPHETIC

Nationally (and internationally) it has been so encouraging to be invited to teach on several platforms via zoom, and to participate in monthly prayer & prophetic groups, including one from the Nordic countries. One special time for us was DECLARE 2022 when the whole Bible was spoken out over Pentecost. Our section was to readout Mark Chapters 11-15. We were touched that this passage started with one of our major calling words about being two donkeys that the Lord has need of.

JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS

Locally, our Village Chaplaincy work in Shilbottle is a steady presence. We regularly connect with a number of mostly more elderly residents. We had a lovely garden party for the Queens Platinum Jubilee in our prayer garden and helped out at a street party the following day. We were also able to distribute copies of a book called, Our Faithful Queen and some commemorative gospels.

FAMILY NEWS (See baby photos below-our 7th grandchild!)

On a personal level, we are rejoicing in the birth of Jack! He is the first baby of our daughter, Esther and son in law, Martin. We have also finally got our flights sorted out for Australia. We are visiting our son, Jonathan, and his wife, Dolly, along with grandsons, Edward and Henry in September. We had to cancel our flights at the start of the UK lockdown in 2020, so it is a real joy to be going at last!

BRIGHT RIVER CHAPEL

We continue to meet online and locally with others through Bright River Chapel for a short time of worship and sharing each Sunday afternoon. If you would like to join you are welcome The zoom starts at 4pm UK time for a facebook livestream at 4.15pm. (zoom ID 7253379548 Password:Albafarne).

We want to thank God for all of you, our Welcome Network supporters and friends. Thank you for your prayers and financial giving.

It has all helped and we appreciate your input into our lives.

With much love from

Welcome Network Christmas Newsletter 2021

December 6, 2021 by BandM Leave a Comment

Recent Christmas Poster on the Community Noticeboard

Dear Partners and Friends of Welcome Network

WHATEVER HAPPENS…We started 2021 with the word, Whatever happens keep on singing!

In different ways this is what we have been doing, and we sense God’s pleasure as we glorify Him in our worship.

Bright River Chapel worship.

One way has been through Bright River Chapel –our weekly online gathering from Alnwick which happens every Sunday from 4pm on zoom (with a facebook livestream from 4.15pm). You are very welcome to join us from wherever you are on the globe as we worship the Lord, and encourage and pray for one another (ID: 7253379548 Password: Albafarne).

On January (15th) we will be hosting a BURN in our local town of Alnwick led by our good friend, Lynne Gowland. This will be an extended time of worship over six hours where people from all across Northumberland can join together in an atmosphere of worship and the prophetic.

In a very different singing genre, we began Awake Gospel Community Choir this year. It is a great opportunity to bring together anybody in our area of Northumberland who enjoys having fun singing gospel music. We are still in the early stages having had just seven sessions! We are not quite Brooklyn Tabernacle choir yet!

OUR VILLAGE Please pray for the goodness of God to touch the people of Shilbottle, as we post a Christmas gospel magazine and prayer card through the doors of the 800 houses in the village. The community notice board which we erected alongside our property this year has been well used and right now is looking particularly Christmassy! There are posters of local village events and information about carol services. By the notice board is a Community Prayer box through which local people can let us know things for which they would like prayer. We want to thank ‘I Am church’ for their generous gift towards installing this, as well as the many who gave individual gifts.

Albafarne Prayer Garden, Summer House

Our village chaplaincy work continues with regular meet-ups with different ones and the occasional larger event such as the outdoor Remembrance Day service, which we help to coordinate. If you would like to spend time away connecting with God, our prayer garden,Albafarne, is open throughout the year.  There is a summer house you can use, as well as the garden plus a toilet and tea/coffee making facilities. You are very welcome.

POCKETS  Every month, we now meet on zoom with a lovely group of mission- minded folk. They are scattered all across the North East of England, but we are able to encourage and support one another as we love God, and do life in our local communities. Let us know if you would like to join us for one of these “Pockets” Conversations.

NORDIC COUNTRIES  This year, we have really enjoyed being part of a group called Nordic365, praying for all the Nordic countries. We don’t know yet, what God has for us to do in 2022 – please pray for us!

Four books for Christmas!

BOOKS FOR CHRISTMAS!  If you like poetry, Mary’s two books of poems may be just the thing to inspire and encourage you or your loved ones! My Song Matters  and Beyond the Door.

Also, Launching after Lockdown, our recent prophetic and devotional book, will help you to enter into the new season that we are in.  Finally Sentness – Discover the apostolic within you  is our latest book; in which we encourage everyone that we can all be apostolic! A real wake-up call! Some Teaching sessions based on the book, and expanding our thoughts about Sentness, along with special guest interviews, are now available to view on You tube.

THANK YOU   Last, but not least we want to say a BIG THANK YOU for all the support and prayers for what we do. If you have benefitted from our work in Welcome Network, please consider supporting us financially. This can be a one-off or a regular gift – see details on how to do this at the end of this newsletter. We are very grateful for our base of supporters whom God has prompted to help us.

Bob & Mary, Snowy Shilbottle!

Please also pray for us that we will hear what God is saying and be a blessing in the North East, in the UK and in Scandinavia. We would love to keep in touch, and let us know how we can pray for you!

Much Love and a very Happy Christmas!
