Dear Partners and Friends of Welcome Network
It is a joy to be sharing with you again! There is a lot to tell, as there have been some changes in how Welcome Network operates over the last four months.
Bob and Mary have now moved up to the North East, to a village in Northumberland, thirty miles from Newcastle. However, Welcome Network is still continuing in the London area, as well as in other places across the nation. In this period of change it has been good to revisit the visionary words that started things off in the first place!
For Welcome Network, our starting point was more a heart expression than an action plan; it was our desire that every person, whatever their age, background or culture, would experience the love and power of God, and know that they were accepted and belonged. This continues to be our heartbeat, as we support and help churches and individuals to reach others in their local communities.
We know that God has been stretching us – to encourage and nurture the revival of our nation through the bringing together of the prayers, the worshippers and those with a prophetic gifting. More recently, we sense that God is saying to think bigger and wider than ever before– that He has something completely new for us to do! Please pray for us as we wait on His leading.
The film shows how lives have been changed, people have been called through dreams, visions and creative thoughts, and God has brought healing and hope to Havering. The film is available from Shane Mathews, £5.00 (plus £1.00 p&p) 07947779797;
Books: Bob and Mary have published two books, ‘Singing over Havering’ and ‘Prayer Walking around Redbridge’ through Open Wells publishing. These books were written to encourage Christians, wherever we are living, to open our eyes and pray with revelation and understanding. God has things to tell us about our own local areas, to help us to pray more effectively. They are available from lulu.com, or Amazon.
We know that several of you reading this, also have books hidden away in your hearts. The Holy Spirit may be urging you to get them out there, and we are very happy for you to publish under the Open Wells name if that helps!
Love Redbridge: We have spent a lot of time over the last two years connecting leaders and other Christians to pray for the London Borough of Redbridge. Monica Abdala is now co-ordinating this work. firstname.lastname@example.org
Encouraging and validating: Welcome Network is beginning to take on a wider networking role. We are relating with ministries around the country, who are looking, in some way, to be connected with us as a network. One of these ministries, The Well, is starting a regular monthly meeting which aims to bring people into a place of intimacy and worship with God. The first meeting will be held in London on 18th October. If you want more information about this contact Sandra Vadivelu, 07540447651.
Helping churches /mystery visitors: Over the summer we have acted as consultants for a number of churches, giving input and advice on various topics including, engaging with English people, building relationships in the local community, encouraging a culture of welcome in church, and ideas for creating small groups. We do not charge for what we do, but financial support towards our work is always welcomed. We can also offer churches feedback on how welcoming they are, through our Mystery Visitor team. Contact us if you would like to know more.
We want to thank all our Welcome Network team and supporters! You have been a great blessing in enabling us to develop this work together.
Finally, thank you for your prayers and financial giving. It has all helped and we are very thankful to the Lord for each of you. Please keep in touch and let us know how we can pray for you!
